The so-called "new standard," in which people are expected to stay at home and, if possible, work from home, has resulted in the Gender Equality and Women Empowerment goals being pushed back.

“They (women) know what needs to be done and we urge all development partners to seriously consider the solutions they offer so that we can continue to ensure the principles of equality and social justice.”
According to UN News, more than nine out of ten employees around the world continue to live in countries that have undergone some kind of workplace closure. The Americas have been hit the hardest, with working hours dropping by 18.3 percent. Europe and Central Asia saw a 13.9 percent drop, with Asia and the Pacific (13.5 percent), Arab States (13.2 percent), and Africa trailing behind (12.1 percent). People with children, especially women, are finding it difficult to return to work in most cases around the world because childcare choices are limited, with schools and daycares all or partially closed.
Working from home and learning new skills to adapt to a new environment has become important in such circumstances.
Human rights are something that we all have. These rights include the freedom from abuse and discrimination; the right to the best possible physical and mental health; the right to education; the right to own property; the right to vote; and the right to a fair wage.
However, sexism based on sex and gender continues to be an issue for many women and girls around the world. Gender disparity is at the core of a slew of concerns that disproportionately affect women and girls, including domestic and sexual harassment, low wages, a lack of educational opportunities, and insufficient healthcare.
Women's rights groups have campaigned hard for many years to counter this injustice, pushing for policy reform or taking to the streets to demand that their rights be upheld. New campaigns, such as the #MeToo initiative, which exposes the prevalence of gender-based abuse and sexual assault, have exploded in the modern age.
Amnesty International aims to convince those in positions of authority to uphold women's rights through research, activism, and lobbying.

This is crucial as the statistics are far from encouraging.
According to a report published by the Center for American Progress, four times as many women as men dropped out of the labour force in September, roughly 865 000 women compared with 216,000 men in 2020. There were nearly 10 million mothers of young children in the labour force in 2019, and it is estimated that the risk of mothers leaving the labour force and reducing work hours to assume caretaking responsibilities amounts to $64.5 billion per year in lost wages and economic activity in the United States alone. As front-line responders, health professionals, community volunteers, transport and logistics managers, scientists, homemakers, work from home mothers, caregivers, and teachers, women have been actively involved, battling the crisis of the COVID19 lockdown and economic crisis.
The pandemic has had a huge effect on women's rights and access to justice, as well as rises in unpaid domestic labor, job loss, and wages for women, who dominate the unstable informal economy around the world.
Lockdown and social exclusion have raised the risk of domestic abuse around the world. According to the United Nations, there has been a global increase of 25 percent to 35 percent in domestic violence reporting calls.
The world has moved from a brick-and-mortar presence to a huge dependence on technology and supporting infrastructure as the world faces this unprecedented period. This campaign caters to women of all ages and demographics, and although the digital platform was introduced prior to COVID-19, it has since developed to meet the modern reality.
Violence Against Women
According to WHO (World Health Organization), Violence against women is a major public health problem and is a violation of women’s human rights.

Value yourself as a Woman
Watch this short video about women empowerment as this marks the opening of the 2021 National Women’s Month Celebration.

The 2021 National Women's Month Celebration is a tribute, a forum, and a call to action that highlights ordinary juanas' remarkable positions in society as trailblazers and change agents. This event also acts as a platform for debating and resolving the challenges that women still face in order to achieve maximum empowerment.
This year's project varies from previous ones in that it is set against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, which presented women with both obstacles and opportunities. As a consequence, this year's commemoration focuses on women's contributions to the war against the pandemic, as well as gender issues worsened by it. It's time to look into the gender problems that developed or became more visible during the health crisis, to recognize women who persevered in the face of hardship, and to share knowledge about support structures and government services that resolve women's issues and concerns.

Empowering Women amidst the Pandemic
View and sign it up! Let women use their voice and overcome their fears.
As COVID-19 spreads to conflict-affected areas, the pandemic creates new challenges for already strained health systems and social relations. Poverty, conflict, social norms and gender discrimination make women more vulnerable to contracting COVID-19. I hope this petition would promote awareness regarding women empowerment amidst the pandemic. I also hope that women will use their voice to share their knowledge and wisdom to individuals who experienced the same issues. Therefore, empowering women during this period can be a way to express the love and support to women in our society.
With the use of this petition, it will grants us instant accessibility and connectivity, we’re able to learn, grow, and understand things much quicker than before regarding the important issues about women’s rights. Moreover, we’re no longer afraid to share our stories of our own self-described detriments. Through awareness and social media presence, we’re taking strides to positively change public perception and empower those who live with the conditions that afflict them especially women. Therefore, this campaign will not only impact me, my family, friends but also the whole community.
